The pitter-pattering,
Itching and scratching at my ear.
The dull murmurs.
In the distance tickle my consciousness.
The white flashes,
Splitting the sky, illuminate the dark corners of my eye.
The minute dashes,
Darting from the heavens, sprinkle my skin.
The booming feeling,
Not a sound, but a deafening presence.
The sullen rhythm,
Calming the restless mind.
The colliding drops,
Make a perfect lullaby.

A tear in the atmosphere,
A blinding light,
Reflecting and ricocheting off each individual falling droplet.
An earsplitting crack,
A delayed rumble,
Pounding and penetrating into the deepest caverns of your ear.
A faded glow,
A hushed whisper,
Subsiding and silencing the surrounding air.

Despite the havoc and chaos,
Past the ominous and menacing,
The pitter-pattering continues.

The murmurs, the droning,
The mumbles, the rumbling,
The ticks, the tapping,
The spatters, the sprinkling,
The whispers, the lulling.

Rain.
