This poem I wrote depicts a true event in history. What I am writing depicts the rise of the Black Panthers, who fought police brutality. In the first stanza I describe the Panthers' traditional garb of berets, sunglasses and leather. In the second stanza, I depict the police as being the main rival of the Black Panthers. In the third verse I describe on how the ghetto, where most of the Panthers fought police brutality, is "nourished by the sunlight and slowly blooms". I originally wrote paired the poem with "X", because Malcolm X and the Black Panthers both advocated violence to combat racial prejudice.
