After hours of hiking, who would have thought,

I actually enjoyed myself and then my eye was caught.

Looking over the rest of the mountain and city,

I found something that I had never before sought.

Looking at the trees in the sky being itty bitty,

Made the world feel big and pretty.

I looked at the trees and didn’t want to blink.

If so, I’d miss seeing even the rocks that were gritty.

I soaked it all in as it made me think,

Did the world grow, or did I shrink?

The appearance of the trees texture had me in awe,

That if I put my hand on it, it would sink.

I stood there, finally seeing the world raw.

I stood there, ignoring that one wrong step I could fall

Because there were trees in the sky after all.

This piece's structure is based off of one of Robert Frost's poems. I was inspired to write this because of a hike I took in Gatlinburg, Tenessee.
