Bottle after bottle
Can after can
I do not like seeing
That drink in your hand
Day after day
Night after night
Seeing you like that
Is not the best sight
I come home from school
You say you’re going for a drive
“We’ll be back in an hour,
Dinner’s at five”
I distract myself from thinking
I blast the music loud
You say to stay home
But I follow the crowd
Seven o’clock now
I’ve fed myself dinner
I didn’t eat much
But it stops me from getting thinner
I dread the day
That you don’t come home
Oh, do I dread the day,
The day you don’t come home
