We believe we are

who they say we are

But one casual mention

And I begin to question

Do I really claim

What I’ve been named

Am I normal enough

To pretend this stuff

Is who I am

I’m a walking scam

Lies leaking from my pores

Leaving few open doors

To be who I want

Her presence taunts

It’s her that I need

But what will you think of me

When I lay down my mask

Is it too much to ask

For you to accept me

And let me just be

In a world full of hate

You don’t have to relate

Make no mistake

I don’t want to be fake

But you had forced my hand

So here I stand

Please just let me

Be finally free

Some of you have probably been in a situation where you came out to someone when you weren't sure that they would accept and support you. Well, wish me luck, because I'm about to dive headfirst into this situation :)
