Hum Doldrum
Ev’ry tree starts as a sapling
Weak, alone
Winds whip, threatening
New
But the tree perseveres
The tree grows
It loves the winds
How it caresses,
How it sings
It has leaves
Now
Beautiful, the leaves
But the winds
Don’t
Winds take leaves
The tree welcomes it
But it takes
Leaves

Ripped by
Winds
That it
Loved
So
The tree
Weakens
It cries
Welcoming
No
Longer
Winds blow
Unhappy
Unheard,
Howls
Tree
No longer
Split
Wind stops,
For with nothing
To howl
Upon
To
Have
Love
Why
Howl?

I wrote this piece as an assignment for my AP English class, and felt that it was really good and that other people should see it, so enjoy :) .
