My Only Wish MAG
Dedicated to Sherman Leroy S. II
I saw a shooting star’s bright light,
So I made a wish that quiet night,
I said so soft, only I could hear,
A wish to ease my pain and fear.
“Please bring my father home,
back from foreign lands to roam.
Let him return to the USA,
and be here forever to stay.
Keep him safe, though, while he’s gone.
While he’s making right of wrongs.
Protect him and citizens there,
Trying to make everything fair.
Hold him close on lonely nights,
And please keep him out of fights.
Shade him from the desert sun,
As work there has just begun.
Give him food, water and sleep,
Knowing that his love I keep.
Send him word of us back here,
And dry his eyes of any tears.”
