Bev's MAG
A flash of light
"That's going to be a good one,"
your friend says, as she puts the camera
back down on the table.
You're all smile,
the one that's almost the shut-eyed, fake one
except your eyes are open.
It's that comforting smile,
the one that helps me forget
and makes me want to remember.
It's the smile that says
that I'm the right guy after all
in spite of my contentions.
It's the "I love you" smile.
And your eyes:
not star-like, but shallow pools
that I can rest my mind in
and be cleansed.
They're magnets, drawing
my attention and inspiring
me to find creative ways
to tell you how much
I love us.
