The Color of You
Your golden hair is brown under the blanket of night
Strawberry-dipped in the rind of the piercing sun
Your watermelon lips are rose-red
But speckled with baby-pink hope when you smile
Your fingers, pale as snow but strong as the olive green of a venerable leaf
And your eyes, teal in the glimmer of the day
Emerald dabbed with jade when the sun begins to set
Your heart, hidden beneath reds and whites and pinks and blues
A crimson-splashed organ of a faded rainbow
