Wedding Day
I sit quietly in my room
Until I hear the light tapping
On my painted wood door
Letting me know it is time
To let the world see me
And to let my light shine
I walk through the hallway
Looking at the other doors
With other brides waiting
To hear that soft tapping
Trying to get my nerves out
Before my big debut
I hear the piano start to play
And I look into the sanctuary
With the room filled
With many waiting guests
My father takes my arm
And guides me down the aisle
I look at my future husband
As he gives me a smile
And a wink of his eye
Suddenly all the nerves are gone
And it is just him, me, and the priest
We say our vows with sincerity
And then we say ‘I do’
I never knew such a joy before
We go to the celebration
I hear congratulations from every mouth
And I get compliments on my beautiful dress
We get a million pictures taken
And we are ready for our honeymoon
With everything ready, our car pulls up
Just married is written on the back
With 12 cans on a string tied to the bumper
We get in the car and get to our destination
We will be together forever
