Ode to Achilles
You were once the runt of your litter,
So small you fit in one of Mama's hands
How you proved them wrong,
You must’ve gotten bigger and fatter than all your siblings,
I like to believe you lived longer than them too.
You were the sweetest kitty cat I’ve ever seen,
Never hissed,
Never hit,
Never bit unless it was your food.
You let me carry you around the house,
Let me lay my head on you and call you my “pillow pet”
Let me hold you up in the air while I call you Simba.
So sweet,
So calm,
So loving.
I never knew a kitty cat could be so perfect,
Never knew a kitty cat could be so big,
Never knew a kitty cat could leave such a hole in my heart.
Oh, Achilles, my sweet Achilles,
I will forever miss your meows,
Your bright orange fur with little spots of white,
But most of all,
I will miss you.

At the time of writing this, it's been almost a month since we had to put our cat down. It still hurts and I know other people may struggle with this, so I though putting this out there could help. Thanks for reading!
