Ihate looking at you,
that reflection of me shows nothing, proves nothing, gives nothing
No hope that someday I could be
more than the stereotypicalblack female,
who can't help but put herself through hell,
worrying aboutsome weak male,
who doesn't respect the wisdom and confidencethat's
stuffed up inside this hard-core diva's shell.
I hate looking atyou
As much as I've trusted you,
depended on you to reflect thetruth
you show me no proof,
of going deeper, and looking beyondthis
manicured physique,
that at certain times looks
drained andcompletely bleak.
Now I don't wanna sit up and preach
but your job is toshow me the truth,
and my job is to teach.
I have to let it be known,
what I see isn't the real me,
When I look at you I don't see a girl inmisery,
I see a smiling face,
with thick lips and a 34 waist.
You'rehurting me more when you lie,
no longer is my appearance important
it'swhat's inside.
So tomorrow when I give you a hard look
You better give meback all the confidence
you took.
