The pink blanket and Emily
The boys said I was too scared to sleep in the dark without it, but I was just doing it for you. Of course, Emily needs its soft tattered fabric. Of course, she needs to hug it, and smell the detergent and my dads cologne. I must admit though. I do need Emily's glassy eyes staring at me, and singing softly while I sleep. Even though the voices get frightening, you are still there.
You should know that I am sorry, for thinking I could ever outgrow you. I am sorry for throwing you into the fire. I was foolish to think that I could get rid of you so soon. But you forgive me anyway, and warn me that I dare not mess with you again. Now I still fall asleep being carefully watched over by you. Emily, of course my best friend and my favorite doll.
