The Never Ending Cycle
With lines from “Environmental Row Over ‘Last Chance Tourism’ in Canada’s Melting Arctic” by Daniel Wizenberg and Berta Vicente Salas, a Pulitzer Center reporting project.
Tourism—
Heart of the economy.
From showing off beautiful rainforest,
To sending out cruise ships to sail in the arctic.
—It supports its people.
Entertaining—
The people that pay to see what's offered.
With beautiful sightseeing of:
animals, nature, and more.
—and giving the people what they want.
But global warming—
Causing devastation to the environment,
Where the people rely on tourism,
While hunting gets increasingly difficult.
—as the arctic melts away.
The cycle—
Of tourism scaring away the wildlife,
That they came to see.
While scaring away the food of their guides.
—never ending.
But how—
Did this work for them for the past 4000 years?
Will the cycle come to a safe ending?
—will it end?
Tourism—
Heart of the economy,
But also may be the death of it too.
—a part of the never ending cycle.
