You’re placed high, as if you're on a pedestal

In the gallery of my mind, you stood, ambitious, and bright

Painting the future in every blank space

                              As time passed, colors changed

What once was so vibrant has began to fade

The quiet corners of my childhood really weren't so quiet

As years passed the knots rehearse and rehearse

                              As the patterns emerge

You stood alone on that pedestal

Nothing left to show the gallery that was once in my mind

Every passing year I grew taller and taller revealing the deception hidden high above you

                               Imperfections hidden from view

                               Covered up by my admiration

As reality dawned, i withdrew from delusion

Regardless, I tend to put you back onto that pedestal

Regretfully I put myself back into the quiet corners to see the color there once was

Day follows night, a cycle unbroken

The simplicity of my youth created the complexity of my adulthood

The eyes on my head are the same as they were 10 years ago.

Even as the colors dim and blur,

Your essence lingers, a vision so pure.
