Dad
You are the pots and pans that made the spaghetti,
making food even when you are tired.
You are the seasoning that taught me to be unique
being unique is better than having everyone know you.
You are the spoons that stir me
make me think about the different options in the pot.
You are tongs that flip me
and show me that I have different sides.
You are refrigeration, heating and cooling,
the hard work put into things that shaped me to the way I am.
You are the wood in the stove
that fueled my best and worst days.
You are the nail to the wood
Holding me together and making the best in the worst situation.
You are the drill to the screws
forcing me to do better.
You are the body odor showing
it’s perfectly fine to word hard and smell.
You are in the fields surrounded by
Babe, Jean and Daisy living your best life.
You are the barn
that is in the process of being made.
You are the tree in the forest that suffers many storms
but still surviving so that you never give up.
You are my jacket to my skin
protecting me so rain can’t bring me down.

This poem is about my dad. He is always supportive of everything that I accomplish. He is my rock.
