Black and White MAG
Itis supposed to be in black and white
Except the white is yellow and the
black is faded.
The girl is tall,
With dark hair, her dress
Might havebeen blue, or green,
Or as the picture shows it in its own
colorlessway;
Gray.
She does not smile,
Her lips are pressed into a thinline.
Yet her eyes say everything, her
Eyes are alive, dark,
Round eyes,they are
Not restrained to white or black
They are as dark as night.
Ihold her in my hand
And think, as she links her
Hands behind her backand
Leans against the old
Car,
What was her name?
It is printed onthe back:
Amelia.
But what was she like?
It is in herface:
Adventuresome.
But when did she live?
I do not know, even thoughthe picture
reads
1947, because as I tape
The photograph to my mirrorI see
myself staring back,
From two places, one in color, and one
infading black, yellowing white.
