Started with my dreams
Nonexistent, unchased away
Because all that there was emptiness it seems
Leaving nights in disarray
He was like a childhood recollection
Sweet, still ever enduring
With our nightly connection
I found his nightmares wrenchingly alluring
They say you aren’t real
That this is all my own psychosis
Somehow it does all seem surreal
In your entrancing hold on the nightscapes hypnosis
During the day, it’s all just in my dreams
Never before did they come true
But at night, all I can hear are my own internal screams
While Im out looking for you
And some nights, you dance across the universe
Running so I can listen to your heartbeat
Until I find myself submersed
Ripped away by the sunrise lighting on my sheets
I've missed your form beside me for nights now
Although I can still feel the warmth and smell of you
So maybe its true I admit, but how?
I still have kissed on scars, a dreamer’s tattoo
Crying night after night, while faces peer in sick fascination
My tears are falling like the grains of sand in the glass
Drifting to their final destination
And they close the book on me, diagnosis alas.
They promised help, and gave me light
From the sanatorium away I ran
All I wanted was night
Because it’s the only place to find my lover. The sandman
