When I look into the Mirror
When I look into the mirror
I see someone that I don’t know
Someone distant
Someone different
Someone, that is not me
When I look into the mirror
I can’t see past
The makeup on the eyes
The neatly straightened hair
Clothes that are way too tight
Who is this person?
Surely it is not me
What the mirror doesn’t tell
Is that there is a little girl inside
A girl that is loving and
Caring and
Helpful and
Trustworthy and
Everything else
That a little girl should be
And when I take it all off-
The makeup and clothes-
The features that hide my inner beauty,
The characteristic that make me who I am
Suddenly appear
When I look into the mirror
