A Walk In New York MAG
Dank, cool morning
Rushes up to greet me emptily
As my feet drag forward, up, along
Endless broken sidewalks.
Quietly I trip down my way
Pulled and pushed by rushing pedestrians
My shoulders flex, nose quivers
Breath billows from my mouth and nostrils.
I lose myself in sighing
Within the shuffle of the street
Walkers scurry by
And having lost all peripheral vision ...
Crash into one another -
Yet still, flesh on flesh
Gazes drop down to cold pavement
Hearts of stone flash blindly
In the morning air.
