Fire Dreams MAG
Dreams reflected
in the glowing embers
of your eyes
Fire licks
its greedy tongue
across the night
Hands raised high
in protest
to the raging wind
Bodies huddled close
seeking shelter
from the cold
You smile down at me
your eyes are warm
your hands are soft
I thought I only knew
such bliss in dreams
But dreams, like fire
must flicker, fade and die
I try to clasp my fingers
'round the scene
... but it's too late
The cold and dark and you
all swallowed up
I kick the silent ashes
and walk away
