Who Speaks At Night MAG
I sit
In the illuminated circle of my driveway
Around me
Mosquitoes buzzing, Bats chirping
and my shadow is cast upon the newly cut grass
Which borders my driveway
What lies outside
My enlightened domain?
The birds cackle
I can hear
but I am blinded by the blackness
The warm and clever night
In a distance
A sole street lamp beams down
Dimly
resting on the lonely quiet
road
Why is it so calm?
so peaceful
The blue spruce
My only wooded ally (or does it collaborate)
the rest
just shadows in the darkness
My ears are muffled
A rumbling sound
rolls
caressing the treetops
A flash!
My eyes glow
reflect the dazzlement
The explosive lightning
The storm is coming
Birds cackle
Bats chirp, mosquitoes buzz
and my shadow is still cast in the night
All is calm before the storm
The compassionate breeze
brushes softly across my cheek
A flash!
and my shadow is still cast
carpeting each blade of evening dew
that borders my driveway.
