Subway MAG
Down, down under the ground
Like mice, the people are scattered around
Some drink coffee, more and more.
Others litter their wrappers on the cold, hard floor.
By the stairs, a man lies sleeping.
Heedless to the woman weeping
Because someone has just stolen her bag.
Kids, kids thinking it a funny gag.
Down, down under the ground
Suits and briefcases rushing around.
All have to get to work on time.
No one can spare a single dime
For the dirty boy with nothing to eat
Who can't remember living in a home with heat.
Here comes the train along the track.
The people get on and don't look back.
Down down under the ground
There is no light to be found.
