Wings MAG
If I had wings I'd be free.
I would soar above the world,
and look down upon the miserable earthenbound folk
as they went about their mundane lives.
If I had wings I would dive and glide;
I would swoop and plummet and float,
lazily across the sky.
If I had wings I would be happy.
As a nomad of wind I could travel and roam,
The birds as my brothers, the sky as my home.
The eagles' aeries would not be forbidden,
I would be special.
I would be different.
But to science, I could not be.
Captured and caged to the knife I would go;
The scientists would see what made my blood flow.
My wings and my life would be immortalized in ink,
and my remains? ...Into the sink!
I'm almost glad that I cannot fly.
If I had wings I would die.
