Valentine Of Mine MAG
It was not decorated in fancy lace or bedecked in jewels
It did not come in shiny wrapping or topped with many bows
It was not flowers or candy or a ring for my finger
(Although I wouldn't have minded, goodness knows.)
I couldn't touch it, smell it, shake it, hear it,
But if I dropped it, it would surely break.
It wasn't bought at Neiman Marcus or Filene's
But it couldn't possibly be a fake.
He gave it to me so selflessly but I was too blind to see
This gift he gave, this present just for me.
We were too different: he was into football, I was into art.
That I didn't care about him, even when he gave his heart.
So I lost him, and now I see my greatest error of all time.
I lost the nicest, sweetest boy, that valentine of mine.
