Ode to the Pencil

You scratch at the paper, smart as a person. My energy oozing out of your lead, sticky to the touch but smart to the brain. Your help is needed every where I look, keep on writing while my brain goes. When I’m stuck at my desk, bored as can be, you pop out and sit along with me. Rolling and rolling to your own beat, your energy all yours that no one can defeat.
