Sweetness is not only in India’s “lassi”,
But also in receiving an extra warm quilt when it is 50 degrees out from the one you love
And the feeling you sense when a baby shows off his toothless grin

Bitterness is not only in South American’s “mate”,
But also in feeling wrongfully accused and therefore injustice
And the quality of a lonesome grouchy old lady who lives alone with nine cats

Sourness is not only in the Australian “Bush Lemon Tree”
But also in seeing an injured, helpless baby kitten meowing for its mom
And the feeling when you are just having one of those days

Spiciness is not only in China’s “Mapo Tofu”,
But also in possessing a snappy attitude
And the chemistry energetic and beautiful dancers experience

2)
A mate is a South American drink that is prepared from extracting dried leaves of yerba mate (a plant) and placing them into hot water.

3)
The Australian Bush Tree Lemon is sour and has a true lemon flavor.

4)
China’s Mapo Tofu is a combination of tofu (bean curd) set in a spicy chili- and bean-based sauce and minced meat.

Thank you for being honest, yes, I do agree that line is cliche!

I think that this is an interesting piece, but some lines could have been a bit more unique. F0r example the old lady with nine cats is something that is very familiar. But this was a nice idea.

this poem is pretty good. I also appreciated the little note  you added to explain what each food was. Creative idea!
