Fairytale

May 15, 2008

In this fairytale,
There are no fairies, or princesses.
Only people that think they’re a princess.

In this fairytale,
There is no happy ending.
Because there is no true beginning.

In this fairytale,
It’s possible to start over.
But you really must try not to have to.

In this fairytale,
There are no evil witches with evil powers.
But there are still evil witches without them.

In this fairytale,
Unfortunately,
The good guys don’t always win.

In this fairytale,
There are conflicts,
Whether love or indifference wins.

In this fairytale,
You can’t bring people back from the dead.
But the fairytale goes on.

But in this fairytale,
You learn to grin and bear it.
Even if your grin is as cheesy as cheesy gets.

This fairytale is not your average fairytale,
But you know it better than you think.
You are the main character in this fairytale.

This fairytale is extremely realistic.
Sometimes not fair.
But you live this fairytale every day.

This is a really great piece. However, if you want to make it stronger, I would advise taking out most of the last stanza because life isn't "realistic". Life is real and very rarely fair. You tend to use some weaker language in the last few stanzas and so they don't do your poem justice.  Use some stronger descriptive words and some more imagery and you'll by on the nose. Btw, I feel confident that with a few edits, this could be a great poem, so I'm giving it a 5 out of 5 stars.

Amicalement,
