Peaches
My black skin that reaches to my brothers
Which came from my father and my mother
My hands that raise in praise to the Lord
And eyes that gaze cross those shores
Peaches, that feed my soul
That help me reach my goal
Inspired by the wise and old
Those who tell me to listen to my soul
That I am black because of my ancestors
Not because of how I act, or talk
What I listen to or how I walk
Black is beautiful and so is white,
Brown, yellow, red and every other color
Peaches, that mold me
To be what I want to be
To rise above the oppression
To strike joy into depression
Throughout this recession
The whole world will see my expressions
My expressions through music and poetry
Can you feel my pain and sorrow?
Can you share my hope for tomorrow?
Peaches
So sweet
