Moving On
Wandering the hallways from class to class
My days are haunted by ghosts of the past.
My lips are shut just as tightly as theirs
We don't exchange words when we pass on the stairs.
Our eyes read the floor, refusing to meet
Strings are pulled as our hearts skip a beat.
Before, we were friends, but you left me alone
I've learned, by myself, to survive on my own.
My ghosts of the past continue to follow
But I walk on by, my eyes trained on tomorrow.
