The Struggle
Things could have been different this time
He could have prevented all the crimes
My mother shouting in the mornin'
Just trying to stop him, trying to warn him
He said he would change
But I guess it was him just acting strange
Before he left that day, he smiled at me
It was as sweet as honey, from a gentle bee
He was hoping this was going to be the last time
He was my hero, and my optimus prime
My father was never there
When he left my mother cried, and sang Lord's prayers
My brother took over as leader
It was like he was a true mind reader.
She needed help, she needed money
But on our side of town, nothing was sunny
My family was desperate, so my brother signed his name
And it was nothing like a child's game
When you're in a gang, you're in for life
He quickly learned that, as his was taken with a knife
Cops say he put up a fight
As for this, everything changed overnight
It could have stopped, he could have been spared
But this loss no one was prepared...
Now my mother cries more than ever
Things are going to change forever
I will change these ways
I will find a way out of this maze
