The City
The city life,
It’s alright.
The bright lights,
The rows of houses,
Lined up,
Like pews in a church.
Jobs ending in a flash,
People leaving in a dash,
It’s all part of the city life.
As cars drive by on highways,
The homeless watch,
Like a vulture looking for prey.
A store closes for the night,
The owner walks home,
Only to wait for traffic to stop so he can cross,
Cross the road,
Just like Santa Maria crossed the ocean in 1492.
He gets home and settles down,
Only to be annoyed by the sound of an active city,
Like a bull in a china shop,
That’s the city life.
