I am thankful and tired
I wonder what people are saying
I hear whispers in the hall and everywhere I go
I see eyes on my back as I turn to leave
I want to be left alone
I am thankful and tired

I pretend I am okay
I feel like I could sleep for days
I touch the pillow oh so very gently knowing I won't be here long
I worry about how long i'll be here in these people's way
I cry when it is brought up
I am thankful and tired

I understand you don't know how I feel
I say God has His hands on us
I dream of sleeping in my bed once again
I try to begin to thank everyone for their love
I hope they understand how much they mean to me
