Breaking Up With Rhythm

She woke up with a song in her head,
With a letter on her bed,
She opened it and as she read
The song began to fade.
Song faded from something fast and loud
Something that blasts, that attracts a crowd
To something slower, half-mast
The flag was half-mast that day
At least if should have been
Because she felt that way
She felt sad and mellow, alone
Alone in that house
A house that hadn’t been empty in years
It had been fill with love, not tears
Now tears though, she was sad
She touched herself getting mad
More mad by the minute, by the second
She wanted revenge
So the song changed again
It was blaring in her mind
With percussion and bass
It was loud, filled with rage.
