Show Them
Show Them
Hold a mirror up to society,
Strip their glamour,
Their false piety,
And show them.
Show them their pointed fingers clawing at the skies
Show their smoky demons that take the bird’s fly,
Show them the ocean cracked,
The deserts cold,
Show them their people hacked,
Their mountains toll,
Show them.
Show them the wire’s pain on roughened skin,
Show them their morals shaved to paper thin.
Show them their dusty palates,
Brown and gray,
Show them the blue’s hue gone,
Red once so gay,
Show them.
Show them your misty eyes, and longing gaze,
Show them your memory’s haze,
Show them your words,
Your voice, your sound,
Show them your mind,
Ideas abound,
Show them.
Show them your wounds, your crimson blood,
Show them your flaxen hair, its speckled mud,
Show them your slashed skin of changing tone,
Show them your baby blues,
Your snowy bone,
Remind them.
Bring back the pain they locked so tight,
In prisons of smoky charcoal night,
Revoke their solace in lifeless drear,
Replace their tears,
And show them.
