The Keepers
I am a little person, or whatever you may call it.
Not dwarf, nor elf, and certainly not hobbitt.
I am roughly the size of a childrens' story book,
I can sneak and not be seen, and hide in any nook.
I am what is called a Keeper, you'll find me anywheres.
I keep marbles, and shoestrings, and even gummy bears.
We're a very fine bunch, and we won't steal a thing.
We'll just take what you've lost, like a spoon or a ring.
Your trinkets are used to furnish our houses,
But be sparing when you spray for bugs...
or mouses.
We live underneath you, and in the space between walls.
We dust behind cabinets, and roll out lost balls.
We're a quite helpful bunch, full of spirit and light.
But don't be frightened if you see us.
We won't bite.
