Memories flood my mind
As I see you where you lay
In the casket at the church
During the middle of the day

The accident happened so quickly
I was completely unaware
As you ran into the road
That a car would hit you there

You rolled across the pavement
As the car squealed out of sight
This nightmare played before my eyes
And I ran to you with all my might

I stood by you, my best friend
As you laid there I cried for help
Your body was broken beyond mend
So beside you there I knelt

I tried to keep you calm
As you screamed from all the pain
Usually you were healthy and strong
But suddenly it all had changed

As emergency vehicles drew closer
I talked to keep you conscience and aware
Reminding you of our friendship
And telling you how much I cared

I tried so hard not to cry
As you struggled for your life
I knew soon you would die
In the middle of all the strife

The ambulance finally arrived
But it was already too late
Only seconds ago you had died
And only seconds ago met your fate

And now I am standing here sadly
Looking down on your peaceful face
As they lower you into the grave
I know your friendship I’ll never replace

You were my very best friend
And I’m mourning for you today
You have a special place in my heart
That no one will ever take away.

Every day I will think of you
Think of those good years together
The beautiful years of friendship
The years we were best friends forever.

Thank you, and no, it wasn't based on anything real.

This is such a sad beautiful poem. Is this based on something that really happen???
