Last Goodbye
Today was a day like no other
It was painful, it was hurtful, it wasn't strong enough to keep us together
Those goodbye's in the past, they were so easy to say
But now, I don't want to go separate ways
Silently, he takes my hand and like a mother, he kisses it
Caresses it, softly strokes it like the petals of a winter rose
But sadly, he lets go
In my dreams, he holds my hand forever
But forever, in my dreams, were never this short
It lasted longer than nights and withstood the time of days
Held on for weeks, stood strong for months
But now, it can not last longer than a minute; time is now my enemy
He's there with me, right by side
But today, he walks away, turns and never looks back
Our goodbye's in the past were never this hard, always so easy to say
But, then again, we always came back for each other
But today, only I came
He's gone
And I fear it may be forever
