The Geek Shall Inherit the Earth
Nerd was a geek with better grades.
High school outcast
Persecuted by the
Jocks,
Preps,
Frat boys,
And sorority sisters.
The jock can shine on the football field,
Geeks can display their sensibilities on
Facebook pages.
Had their own heroes –
Stan Lee of comic book fame;
Their own vocations –
Dungeons and Dragons;
Their own religion –
Supplied by George Lucas and “Star Wars”;
Their own skill sets –
Tech support.
The great empowerment,
Rise of Microsoft,
Making large amounts of money,
Acquired economic credibility,
The seedbed of social prestige.
Nerddom
Percolating through popular culture
Self-styled “nerdcore” rock
Geeksta rappers
Created a new definition
Of what it means to be cool
A cool geek fashion style
Japanese sneakers and text-laden T-shirts
The social status has flipped
The last shall be first
And the geek shall inherit the Earth
