Backstage
As I practice for months for these three minutes.
As I remove my warm-ups.
As I have the perfect costume finally on and secure.
As I accomplished to get my hair glued down and bump less.
As I spray hair spray on the bottom of my black Capezio’s.
As I go back stage with my competition.
As I began to get butterflies and shakes.
As I see the stands full of thousands of people.
As I receive a good luck hug from my coach.
As I spot my loved ones front and center in the crowd.
As I talk to God and get mentally prepared.
As I watch the dancer before me exit the stage.
As I hear my name announced and welcomed to the floor.
As I walk on stage ready to go hard and leave everything I have on the floor.
As I hold that medal around my neck.
