Love Lost
Drifting away into timeless thoughts
Questioning a black canvas
Wondering why its midnight face
Stares down at me
As the shimmering moon comes over the horizon
I shed a tear, for I know
He’s not coming
The sand colored grass tickles my legs
Trying to cheer me up
He said we should wait
Wait until he comes out of the army
So we would know for sure our love wouldn’t die
I knew he wouldn’t come
For his tombstone read:
Jack Johnson 1932- 1952
