My Secrets
Remember when you took me to the maple trees
You told me this was your idea of romantic
And I silently agreed
Remember when you sat with me on the pier
We fished at sunset and you baited my hook
Remember when we stood at the river, beneath the fireworks
I grabbed your hand and we wondered what the other was thinking
Or the time we went to the movies
And I was glad we weren't like all the other couples
But Daddy still worried
I remember the summer night we stayed out staring at the stars
Waiting for that first kiss
It eventually happened, and it was awful
That's when I decided to tell you all my secrets
And then you became one
I was so fast to push you away
I swear it better be true;
That we never fade from the lives we touch
Because you were the one that made me hate the rain
Yeah it's pathetic, me writing love stories
But this is all I have now,
And I must quit lying to myself
So this is my goodbye, but first I have to ask
Do you remember when we were young?
