The fire in her eyes was dying as she whispered her goodbyes,
She tried to limp away, but had lost her strength to hide,
He looked at her and said softly, while wiping at a tear,
“I'm so sorry that I have pushed you away from here.”
She turned back and stared at him in utter disbelief,
Oh yeah? She said, funny, I thought you'd be relieved.
You’ve ignored me for weeks and I don't care the cause,
But everything you don't care about is that once was.
So here I go, and don't ever again count me as your friend,
Because I can finally walk away from you, never to be seen again.
He stared open-mouthed as she proved she could stand up straight,
And she walked away from him with that strange, loping gait.
He expected her to turn, but he doesn't know her as well as he thought,
Or maybe he did, but cared so little that he’d forgot.
So he just watched her go, an odd expression marring his handsome face,
Knowing nothing would be odder than the day she vanished without a trace.
Stranger still was when he actually attempted to walk on,
Because as he left in the same direction he discovered her footprints were gone.
Nary a pebble, blade of grass, nor a stone was out of place,
The mysteriousness was uncanny, and his heart began to race.
He figured he would find her eventually; she's just a girl after all.
But she is also special, and he couldn't take the fall.
She’s tough, she's strong, and she can handle anything that comes her way,
But he's not resilient like that, and so fallen he will stay.
It doesn't matter if he cared while she was still there,
Because rejection always hurts, so hear out this prayer:
“If you can hear me,” he cried, shouting into the night,
“I'll wait forever for you whether it is dark or light.”
He sighed in desperation, realizing what'd she'd always known was true,
No matter how he ignored her, he loved her through and through.
He screamed in pain, feeling it in his mind and heart,
Wondering how he could've let her go, how he'd handle being apart.
He could see her very clearly in his mind's eye,
Smiling softly at him while trying not to cry,
He knew this was supposed to be when he looked away,
But instead he watched her, wishing she were okay.
In his mind she turned towards the sunset and disappeared in twilight,
But in this version of reality he chased after her into the night.
He woke up from this dream forever longing for her smile,
But he heard her voice in his mind saying she'd be gone a while.
He wept like only children can and her voice echoed, “Don't cry.
I'll be back before you know it; there will be no more goodbyes.”
He wondered whether this all was really true,
Recalling her voice again saying, “I will watch over you.”
He managed to smile through his tears, and stood up to face the sky.
For he believed her with his whole heart, and the fire in his eyes survived.

This was partly inspired by, "The Angel on Highway 109." (I think that is what it is called.) Every love and heartbreak I have ever known inspired the majority.

The first two are in the poetry section (both free verse) and "I Don't Understand" is under the Book section.

Can you please tell me what sections these all are in to help me find them? Thanks! :)

Oh, and I have a few chapters of a new fantasy novel up called The Eldonian Legends, if you'd like to read that.

I'd love to read all three, and any more I might happen to find! I'll do that as soon as I can.

"Crying for the Future" (published Anonymously on accident :P)

"A Wall"

and maybe my book told in poems called "I Don't Understand..." ? If you don't wanna read this one its cool though.

You're soooooooooo nice :) I really appreciate getting the exact reaction I'd hoped for.

I have a few other pieces you might enjoy...I'm waiting for Thinking of You (song lyrics) to be published, which I'd love for you to read, but meanwhile there's:

Loving Me (song lyrics)

What Would You Do? (free verse)

A Star is Born (fiction novel)

etc! :)

Oh. My. Gosh. HOW has no one commented on this? The flow, the imagery, the plot (I'd never even thought of poems having plot).... Its absolutely incredible! I love this. It gave me chills.... This is the kind of poem you can't stop thinking about... There aren't even words to describe what I think of this. You're on a WHOLE other level than most poets on this site. Please keep writing so I can keep being amazed :D
