Knowledge craving
Lives we’re saving
Help they’re seeking
Words we’re speaking
Everywhere, there’s people needing
That golden rule we must start heeding

“Do Unto Others…” The wise words said
Yet like a disease, the madness spread

Poverty
Sickness
Emotional stress
These issues, those suffering, we need to address

The suicidal—their own lives they’re taking
The troubled youth commits murder—a law they’re breaking

Yet they can rise
From ashes to sky
So my final words;
Will you help them try?

The author's comments:
I wrote this for my Advanced English class. The prompt was to describe how we can be caring teenagers in the world today. After I examined the issues that plauged today's young men and woman, from family abuse to emotional problems, I realized that we're going to need all the help we can get.
