Half A Heart

You took it
and disappeared.
You locked it away
just to crush it later.
But what you didn't know
is that you only took half.
You took half my heart to crush
and I keep the other half
safe from you.
Your half is full of love
but also has hate.
My half has strength
and that is all I need
to rebuild another half.
