As I Am
My heart is a chest
With no lock or key.
It beats in my breast
For others to see.
It’s filled to the brim
With wonderful things.
With memoirs and whims
And sparkling rings.
But under the skin
Of the treasures galore,
Under the mask
Of elation I wore
Lays the infinite rage
For an unloving globe.
I’m trapped in my cage
Without any home.
There’s good and evil
In every one of us.
It makes it so hard
To love or to trust.
I’m kind and I’m mean.
I’m happy and sad.
So just take my good
As well as my bad.
