Blind
I went to school today.
The kids were mean
They always are.
They speak thinking I can’t hear.
They gossip thinking I can’t feel.
I am not deaf
I am just blind.
My eyes aren’t my brain,
No one understands me.
It’s like being in a cage but still being free.
They are just a broken part needing to be fixed.
They are useless, unloved, unwanted.
My eyes don’t make me who I am.
My heart does.
My eyes aren’t my brain,
No one understands me.
It’s like walking on a tightrope,
So hard to see the ground.
They’re the ones who need to see not me.
I see their inside, they see my outside.
My eyes aren’t my brain
No one understands me.
I am a puzzle missing a piece.
Different.
But not broken
I used to see all colors
Now I just see black.
I want to see,
But I don’t need to see.
