Missing Light in a Dream
I dream of barren wastelands
The ground dry and cracked
I dream of crying out
Only to hear my lonely echo
I dream of snide remarks, meaningful looks
I search this barren wasteland but to no avail
My head drops accepting defeat
The darkness closes in
I know my time of life has ended
But out of the corner of my eye
I see a shimmer
The sun has risen
A cascade of orange hues
It burns away my misery and fear
And I wake
Only to have to return the next night.
