Smile
From the first day
My smile wouldn’t go
It never felt fake.
Laughing, joking, trusting.
We hardly got mad,
only to forget if we did
Now I never saw this coming
I question it more -
could it be all wrong?
The hurt that never goes.
The lie of a smile.
All the deceit
was hidden in your eyes.
The truth never surfaced
But I can’t watch this fade
You’ve left me hanging
So what to believe,
I don’t know.
But I can’t hate anymore,
and I’ve finally learned
it’s not worth the tears.
Its best to walk away,
and to smile like I used to.
