The Opiate of the Masses
So pitiful are our lives
So pathetic our existences
Nothing but flesh
Gone in an instant
No afterlife
No continuation
We all perish
Yet few accept it
We aren’t protected
Yet few admit it
Holding on to false hopes
And false appearances
To give us false assurances
And false confidence
We drown ourselves in dreams
In order to keep out reality
But like it or not
Reality is here to stay.
Can we accept it?
Why don’t we accept it?
